About Catherine Stoehr

Catherine Stoehr is a licensed mental health counselor and a certified eating disorder specialist. Stoehr earned her Masters of Arts in mental health counseling at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida in 1997. She completed her post-graduate curriculum for an eating disorder specialty in 2000...also at Rollins. Since 2001 she has been in private practice in Maitland, Florida. Her client profile covers a wide spectrum from those experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD and DID to resolution of severe trauma (both childhood and adult) and eating disorders. As an eating disorder specialist, she works with men and women suffering from anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and emotional eating. The focus is on helping the client to understand the foundation of and work toward healing the pain. Once the healing is under way, she helps to guide them through the transition from victim to "thriver". Life skill enhancement, including assertiveness and boundary setting is an integral part of the process. Cognitive-Behavioral therapy is theoretical basis for her treatment, while incorporating other modalities such as experiential, Gestalt, strength based focus and EMDR.

I work on a "fee for service" basis but I do take several major insurances such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, Psychcare, Corphealth and MultiPlan-PHCS. Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length but may vary according to level of need. I also will be offering several support and psycho-educational groups throughout the year focusing on issues such as eating disorder recovery, emotional eating, body image, life transition and other interesting topics. Please consult my "website newsletter" for dates, times and fees.
